Mindset Matters

We are all in pursuit of something. It may be a college degree, a job promotion, or that elusive championship trophy. It could be a better relationship with our partner, more work-life balance, or happiness.

Whatever we’re after - how do we get there?

It all starts up top.

Jake uncovers the 3 keys to a strong mindset and how to incorporate these easy practices in to our everyday lives.

Why We Need To Fail

We all fail. It’s inevitable. Things don’t always work out the way they were supposed to. Now what?

What we often don’t realize is that failure is an opportunity. The decisions we make set up the course of our lives. Are you going to fall back? Are you going to propel forward?

Through real life experiences Jake shares the true meaning behind failure, strategies to overcome it, and how to deeply utilize the power of choice.

The Moments In Between

We all live very busy lives. We run to and from school, work, and home and repeat the very next day. Why are we so anxious all the time?

Using a simple practice along with personal stories and experiences from Jake, we can begin to better utilize our time, energy, and resources.

Jake will walk through different ways to identify moments in between the chaos and most importantly - how we can use them.

Testimonials

Jake participated in two of our workshops for teachers and did an awesome job! He related very well to the teachers, evidenced by the 100% positive response rate from them. They especially liked his advice for their personal life. "Jake did a great job reminding us to be more grateful and appreciative in life" and “it really is about the little things.”

One teacher noted that "Jake had a great message for us to help care of ourselves. We often forget to do that." I definitely plan to invite Jake to participate again in future workshops.

- Harold Sorkness, Retired Professor Of Education

Jake spoke at our Northern Lakes Student Council Region Workshop as the keynote speaker. The theme of our workshop was "Leadership Through Innovation". While speaking to this topic he shared some amazing stories from his past. He shared the difficulty of navigating through his times of uncertainty and how being vulnerable can be a huge strength as a leader. His message was both appropriate and very engaging for the members of our audience. I highly recommend booking him to speak at any engagement.

- Garrett Priest, Northern Lakes Region Student Council Advisor, Watertown High School Student Council Advisor

Jake has came and visited with our women’s basketball team multiple times. Each time he presents great teaching points through real life stories and examples. He always genuinely connects with his audience and speaks to them on a personal level.

We’ve really enjoyed having him. I highly recommend him to any group looking for someone to come in and have an impactful conversation.

- Todd Schlimgen, Mount Marty University, Head Women’s Basketball Coach

Jake spoke at our Association of School Business Officials Fall Conference as the keynote speaker.  He worked with us prior to the conference to ensure that his message was geared toward our overriding theme, which he was able to accomplish perfectly.  Jake spoke to our group about identifying “The Moments in Between” and provided us all with a reminder of the importance of focusing on what truly matters in our lives, even in times when we are anxious or stressed out by the world around us.  He successfully incorporated involvement with our group members and left a lasting impression.  I highly recommend Jake to any group looking for a motivational message.

- Kevin Kocer, Business Manager, Vermillion School District

As an educator in the Sioux Falls Public School District, I am constantly looking for positive messages to share in the classroom. Instantly after meeting Jake I knew my students had to experience his positive energy and message. Jake shared stories, asked thought-provoking questions, and provided a positive outlook on life’s challenges. Hopefully he will be willing to come back again!

- Spencer Flakus, Special Education/Coach, Sioux Falls Roosevelt

Jake was a keynote speaker at our teacher staff training focused on "Finding Your Why." Everyone left his session feeling recharged, grateful, and optimistic. He kept the audience engaged and really hit home with his metaphor “riding the wave.” As educators we have our ups and downs, but finding our purpose and holding that close makes our waves less deep. I would highly recommend Jake for any staff development. He was a huge hit for our school!
