The Best Is Yet To Come
As some of us would say - it’s been a minute! The last blog post was up on April 22, which was just after my old man fell (or jumped) off of a semi-trailer and put himself in a walking boot for the summer.
All kidding aside it has been a long time since we’ve connected on here. I’ve been busy! A good busy. More on that later.
I have drafts of different things, experiences, and thoughts I want to write about on this site. Others just come to me in moments and I think out loud “I should write about that!” Here we are.
The Best Is Yet To Come
When my friend sent me this Gryffin song a few weeks back it connected immediately. I’ve always been a fan of his and although his music isn’t for everyone - the lyrics in his songs always impact me in some form. A line right at the beginning of the song caught my attention.
After playing it a few times I sat with this line for awhile. How true is that?
We’ve covered it a lot together (Archives) - life is one wild ride. How often do we find ourselves questioning every part of the journey? We make mistakes. We make decisions that are supposed to lead us here but instead take us there. We love. We lose. We win. We fail. Over and over again. What exactly does it all mean?
We often see the signs on the road. We feel it. That’s our intuition, our guidance, a feeling that this isn’t the right person. This isn’t the right job. I know there’s more I can be doing. What do we do? We make changes, We part ways. We move. We are confident in our decision and have our plan set out. You know what’s funny?
We have absolutely NO IDEA what is going to happen next.
Pretending to know where to go.
It took me way to long to realize something - there’s beauty in that.
It’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey. Our journey is filled with ups, downs, and moments of complete confusion. That’s life! There’s beauty in the struggle because we simply have to believe. We need to believe in ourselves, our decisions, and trust that things will work out. We need to have faith. We may not always be able to answer Why - but we have to trust that we are being guided by something greater.
Think of all the hardships in your life. All the times where you felt defeated, the times you wanted to quit, and the mistakes you made. What’s one thing that’s consistent to this very day?
You made it through. You’re still here. The people, careers, and circumstances are ever-changing but you’re still here battling. Give yourself some credit! You are much stronger than you realize.
On June 10th I celebrated the 2 year anniversary of my first published blog post accurately titled New Beginnings. Prior to that I was unhappy, mentally and emotionally drained, and was contemplating my purpose in life. After some self work, determination, and a shift in my mindset - everything changed.
Simply put - I think the best is yet to come because I choose to believe it. I’ve experienced it over and over again and will continue to.
You can too. You’ve been through a lot and you’re still here - with so much life to experience yet. It’s time to live it fully. And remember…
