Wave Rider

Happy Friday!

Thank you for visiting again and if you are new, welcome!

When I launched earlier this week there were numerous individuals who reached out and provided positive messages, congratulations, and no favorite quotes from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Not one. Bueller? Bueller?

Anyway, I also received a lot of notes revolving around two things: 1) Surprise and 2) Why. Where did this come from?

As I mentioned, I've been on a whirlwind of a journey. We are all on a journey. The path that has taken me where I am today went up, down, sideways, backwards, and forwards. How did I get here?

That’s a great question! Several things brought me to where I am today. Lets keep it short. I’ve always enjoyed being energetic. Not energetic in the sense of running around the house for no reason or blasting Baby Shark on repeat all day long (doo doo doo doo doo doo). I’ve always had an energy for experience, relationships, conversations, and overall life. I can’t tell you where it was rooted from or why on earth I tend to cheese out all the time (awkward). I’ve always felt thankful and seemed to enjoy nearly every single interaction that came my way.

Ok you are energetic and smile a lot, so what? We all do that.

Well, I had lost it.

Remember the ups, downs, sideways, backwards, and forwards of life's journey? There are many ways to put it, but I call it wave riding. I would ride the waves up, down, and back up again. Over and over and over. It’s completely natural. What began happening to me was, I really started struggling with the ride back up. Life brought me to certain circumstances that I let get a hold of me. My circumstances began to control me and who I was day in and day out. I had started to let outside events and words and actions define the way I lived. I didn’t feel the internal energy there anymore. I didn’t feel thankful anymore. I didn’t feel like me.

I firmly believe that circumstances should not control how we live. It’s what we decide to do with our circumstances and our events, and how we act. I had forgot one of my own core values! I learned from it and continue to learn and practice every single day.

How did I get here? I made a firm decision to change. I needed to go through certain experiences and events to grow. The self study and reflection and action that I put forth helped me realign. I was able to improve, refocus, and reclaim my energy. The deep dives and fine tuning it took to rediscover my identity are what helped propel me forward.

Life is full of ups and downs, surprises, setbacks, fear, love, laughter, learning, and just about any other wave you can think of. It’s completely natural and whether those events are good or bad, we all go through them. It’s all a part of the individual journeys we are on and more importantly, it’s needed. It’s needed for us to develop and improve ourselves, so in turn we can serve others. It’s needed to be thankful for the highs and blessings in our lives, and it’s needed for the understanding and growth that come from the lows.

Let’s utilize the waves we all go through, and continue to go through each day, by creating meaningful conversation around them. We are never truly aware of what people may be going through and one conversation, story, or the ability to connect with someone in a similar situation could be huge. No matter the individual, no matter the event, good or bad, we ALL have unique experiences and growth opportunities happen daily. We can ALL use our personal experiences, and what we learned, to help others.
